With the current pandemic happening, it cannot be stressed enough that health is WEALTH. Taking care of our health should be our top priority and we should make lifestyle modifications to healthier standards.

One way to make sure that we do not contract diseases is through vaccinations. Vaccinations have been a proven strategy to prevent illnesses and has already been around the market for quite some time. Vaccination or immunization have similar meanings. It is a treatment with a “vaccine” to produce immunity to a specific virus. It works by making the body produce antibodies against the disease itself. This happens as a weakened pathogen or virus is injected to the body, the body then recognizes the virus and stimulates an immune response against it. This is a safe and effective way to help prevent certain diseases.

We always hear vaccinations or immunizations for babies/infants, however adults can also benefit from it too. One helpful vaccine for adults is the “Flu” Vaccine and “Pneumonia” Vaccine. These type of vaccines prevents the contraction of the common cold and pneumonia.

A trusted clinic with licensed medical professionals should be the ones to administer immunity shots. A safe and recognized clinic is “Affinity Vaccines”. I just had my personal vaccination at their Makati Branch yesterday and the procedure was quick, pain-free and seamless. The staff were also very accommodating and in full PPE (personal protective equipment). The clinic was also clean with strict safety protocol. If you plan on getting a vaccination, I recommend you do it somewhere safe and go to AFFINITY VACCINES.

FAQ: Why do I need a flu vaccine every year?

A person’s immune protection from vaccination declines over time, so an annual vaccine is needed for optimal protection. Second, because flu viruses are constantly changing, flu vaccines may be updated from one season to the next to protect against the viruses that research suggests may be most common during the upcoming flu season.

Getting an annual flu vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself from the flu virus. Vaccination is also important because the flu can progress and cause a secondary infection, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, or an ear infection. Complications can occur in people with a weak immune system, such as young children, older adults, and those with chronic conditions. The flu vaccine is about 40-60% effective when the virus type in the vaccine aligns with the circulating virus. For those who do get sick after getting a flu shot, vaccination may reduce the severity of symptoms.
